This Sunday Sesh we are raising our glasses to the Gin Gimlet!
Another cocktail with a mysterious origin story, one source claims that this drink was created to stop scurvy on English Naval ships! The vitamin C in the lime helps prevent this. But Officers weren't taking their rations.. So they thought to themselves, 'How do I get sailors to ingest lime?' Add alcohol of course! And the Gin Gimlet was invented. Modern day; This drink is great for those on a health bender. It's Low calorie, and a good excuse to get (ship)wrecked!
- So dust off that cocktail shaker and get in!
A good place to start with the Vieux Carre, perhaps, is how to pronounce it. Although the name is French, the pronunciation most certainly is not. This cocktail is pronounced ‘voo car-ray’.
Here's to all the good times wasted on having good times and the good times to come. 1960's gritty and bluesy sounding British band Eric Burdon and The Animals are giving us 'The Good Times', an ode to regrets of having wasted time away on useless things, only thing is, we don't regret them!
