This Sunday Sesh we are raising our glasses to the Rusty Nail!
With a drink over a hundred years old it's not surprising that there are several tales for the origin of the 'Rusty Nail'. According to some legends, it was a nickname for the Drambuie cases that were dropped off in the Hudson and East Rivers in NYC during the Prohibition era, because their wooden boxes had rusty nails from the water. While another cites the Scots used to stir this drink around their glasses with a rusty nail.. It's most likely that the name has to do with the golden hue Drambuie gave to young Scotch whisky when it was mixed.
It's up for a good debate after you've indulged in a few rusty nails!
- So dust off that cocktail stirrer and get in!
