It is clear that over the past decade there has been an emergence of talent on the Australian tattoo scene. We know that everyone has their own tattoo style and preference which has made it hard to compile a shortlist of just 5 artists!
But with that being said, we've tried to include a variety of artists from around Australia so that no matter what state you're living in you can visit your closest artist and get some new ink.
1. Lauren Winzer - Sydney NSW
Lauren is an incredible artist and an absolute legend of a human being! Her tattoo skills are on par with her banter! She has tattooed the likes of Miley Cyrus, DJ Tigerlily and other famous musicians however remains a chill, down to earth artist with a world of talent. She is well renowned for her small and incredibly detailed tattoos. Her use of colour and creative instinct made her an essential addition to our list.
2. Lilli Elizabeth - Melbourne VIC
Lilli is one of those artists that can jump between styles seamlessly. She free hands a lot of her tattoos and uses grey shading to flawlessly create pieces of work that can only be described as awesome.
3. Tommy - Brisbane QLD
Currently working at Trailer Trash Tattoo, Tommy is a master of colour and line work. It doesn't matter what you have in mind, Tommy will bring your idea to life using colour both tactically and diversely.
4. Andrew Turnbull - Hobart TAS
Andrew is fluent in manny different tattoo styles and can execute them with the experience that prevails him. His dot work is exceptional and his ability to use both colour and shading make him an essential visit for those of you living down in Tasmania.
5. Petra - Perth WA
Petra is an extremely talented tattooist based at Primitive Tattoo in Perth. She does unique geometric pieces that she conceptualises and then sketches out herself. Her line work is exceptional and her ability to create intricate tattoos that just work made her a crucial addition to our list.

Today we go back to the day where Julian Casablanca of The Strokes could make you question your sexuality in 'You Only Live Once'. The song title itself is a good reminder to do whatever it is you enjoy and make the most of it, which is probably why Julian could rock all white like no other.
